The HomelessHelp.com Community Building Program (CBP) aims to bring together a diverse group of people (ranging from advocates, civic & spiritual leaders, students, volunteers, etc) who would work intensively with one another to foster a sense of community and take charge initiative by leading workshops and dialogues (Community Conversations) about related topics such as poverty, work opportunity, diversity, prejudice, homelessness, and community building. These social issues define community not just as a group of people living together, but also as honest communication among people and groups, respect for different identities and cultures, and genuine caring for one another.

Program Goals
• Recruit and maintain a skilled and capable group of community builders.
• Establish a safe space that promotes self-examination and sharing of cultures, identities, and interests.
• Provide participants with tools they can use to work towards community through their daily interactions with others.

What we do with various advocacy groups
The network of Community Progress coalition groups work with a number of organizations in support of progressive change and legislation designed to help those most in need. Speakers are available to create and tailor workshops for local companies, community groups, high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools, etc all designed to meet your specific needs, please inquire to find out how we may serve you.

What We Do On Campus

The Community Builders plan to facilitate workshops about relevant social issues such as Homelessness on campuses throughout the academic year. Most of the on-campus work has been done in cooperation with a sponsoring club or supporting entity.

Community Conversation Series.
Community Conversations offer facilitator certification workshops and training gives a safe space that encourages self-examination of our time while bringing forth the sharing of cultures, identities, and interests. Inquire into the next series of upcoming workshops by emailing Mike@PressID.com

The Video Project
The CBP video project is in its early planning stage. We intend to film, edit, and produc a series of Community Conversations as part of an independent study project in Spring 2007. This new video project – which will compliment an internet radio and print project will be used to address issues of community and social issues in America – the first will address and confront the challenges of getting past political and religious beliefs among other differences of opinion. Organized forums and informal discussions will be filmed to capture the ethos of community and its place in our society. A central question addressed is how the tradition of "American Civility" precludes honest communication and what is revealed in the media. The next video project examining homelessness may begin filming this year and will be produced sin 2008. More information coming soon.

Experience: Our Training
The Community Builders regularly attend meetings aimed at increasing their awareness of issues of diversity and community, and at fostering community within the group. They undergo hours of sensitivity and awareness training to hone the models they use in their workshops and to further develop their own abilities. Two significant training sessions are held during the year: one in the fall led on college campuses and one facilitator certification training held in the spring led by an outside trainer. All meetings involve exercises that enhance team-building, problem solving, and strong communication skills. If this program interests you - please inquire.
